This is the one thing that separates top performers from the rest

So you want to be a top performer, yeah? Excellent! But so does the rest of the world! But believe me, the world is crying out loud for the lack of top performers... way TOOOOOO many wannabe top performers who have by now watched all the Youtube videos on 5 hacks to get themselves up early, reading a book a day, eating healthy and working out, and meditating!! Even then, they seem stuck in average performance. WHY?

Back in my school days, my fellow classmates used to call me "Ma Maths" (the mother of mathematics). I'll be honest, I wasn't as good as many many others in the world, but I was best in class. I remember this one time when a friend of mine called me to solve a tricky math problem, and I was napping (read: sleeping and snoring). But to her amazement, I apparently solved it in my sleep and went back to bed as if nothing had changed... now you get the context of the name, don't you?

You might now be thinking, "Okay, we get it, you were great at Math. But so what?" This is when I tell you, the parallel story of my school life that the rest of my class wasn't aware of. I had a special Math tutor who taught me (read: forced me to solve problems when I was barely awake EVERY morning, and if I made a mistake would hit me and complain about me to the parents!). So I got REALLY good at solving math problems any time of the day, every day, for 365 days in the year (yes, my tutor believed that holidays were for the faint hearted!), and can perhaps still solve a Calculus problem using first principle. But the big lesson in this is getting a bit better consistently everyday... not try 100% better one day and then crash out of the process.

Look, don't get me wrong, cultivating good habits are great, and if you know me, you know I swear by meditation. But if I sit and meditate 5 hours a day and not do much else, will I become Bill Gates? Of course not! In fact, when I started meditating, there was no way I could even still my mind for 5 minutes... but now am much better and am sure one day I will be doing the 5 hours at a go. But if I haven't ever meditated and expect to sit down for 5 hours tomorrow and have an epiphany, do you think I'll have one? Probably not, unless am one of the gifted sages or something!

Top performance is simple- it's about creating a habit of showing up, and then patting yourself in the back for it. Day 1 - hit the gym, stay for 5 minutes and come back. Day 2 - hit the gym, stay for 10 minutes and come back... performance is very much like a muscle, the more you do it the stronger it gets.

What am getting at is, top performers practice their trade everyday and they get 0.01% better everyday. Leave me a comment below and tell me what you want to be a top performer at and I'll tell you what you can do become one! COME ON DUDE, the time's ticking!!!
